As an employer and service provider, BC Housing strives to implement Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) across our organization.
We recognize the importance of being proactive to reduce barriers to accessing funding, services, employment opportunities and career advancement when working alongside diverse rightsholders, stakeholders, individuals and communities.
EDIB areas of focus include:
- Reflecting our communities: Creating a workforce that reflects the demographic composition of the communities we work in and serve
- Celebrating and valuing diversity: Building an inclusive workplace where our diverse professional skills and lived expertise are valued and celebrated
- Enhancing cultural safety: Continue ongoing learning, sharing resources and creating safe spaces for people to apply principles and critical analysis required to practice EDIB at work
- Thinking critically: Enriching our critical analysis skills to support application of intersectional equity lens to practices, policies and processes
- Acting systemically: Implementing anti-oppressive practices to eliminate all forms of systemic discrimination in our organization
We are proud partners with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion Centre (CCDI) and Pride at Work Canada and have achieved gold-level certification with Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) through the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB).
