The Student Tenant Employment Program
(STEP) offers two innovative
employment training programs for youth
between the ages of 15 to 18 who are tenants in housing
developments managed by BC Housing:

STEP to Work Program -
Metro Vancouver
This program helps prepare youth for employment by offering a two-week training session and a five-week paid job placement. The training week includes resume preparation and interviewing techniques. Participants will also receive training in CPR, Standard First Aid, FOODSAFE, WorldHost, WHMIS, and Back Awareness. Download the STEP to Work flyer.

STEP UP Leadership Program -
Greater Victoria
The STEP UP Leadership program in Victoria provides leadership training and work experience for youth age 15 to 18 that live in subsidized housing directly managed by BC Housing.
STEP UP Leadership includes two weeks of leadership training plus six weeks of work experience in the field of recreation. The training is transferable for all vocational skills but more specifically for child and youth care, recreation, education, social work, counselling and even nursing. Participating youth will receive up to a $600 honorarium for participating in the program.
