Wellness

The people at BC Housing value wellness and balance. The Wellness programs and services provide a range of options to our employees to ensure a healthier future for themselves and other British Columbians. Some examples of BC Housing’s popular initiatives are:

  • The Bike Purchase program sees selected bike shops give BC Housing employees and their families a 10% discount on new bike purchases and 20% off cycling equipment. BC Housing offers payroll deductions to space out payments and help make the purchase more affordable.
  • The Pacific Blue Cross @live program is a health risk assessment, complete with a personalized wellness plan for lowering individual health risks.
  • BC Housing hosts regular Lunch and Learn sessions for employees on various health-related topics such as nutrition, emergency preparedness, safe bike routes are more.
  • Intended to be an exercise in energy efficiency, the Home Office lights go out at 5:00pm, letting you know the work day is over.
  • The Modified Work Week helps keep the stress at bay by allowing people to spend one day at home for rest and relaxation every three weeks.
  • Each member of our Home Office team has access to the Central Park Place Gym, which offers workout machines, weights, fitness classes, and stop-smoking programs.
Being healthy is its own reward, but for that extra boost of encouragement, Wellness Rewards are offered for using many of these Healthier Futures benefits.  Wellness Rewards gives employees points that are redeemable for gifts for healthy activities (both physical and environmental). Participating in fitness programs, learning something new, joining a team, biking to work, and much more can qualify for Wellness Rewards.
"Only 20% of Canadian employees enjoy corporate wellness programs that include such perks as fitness and nutritional coaching, gym memberships and opportunities for professional growth, according to a poll.

Almost 70% of 2,857 Canadians who participated in an online poll at Monster.ca said they wished their employers offered such incentives."
