Operations is responsible for the planning, development and
delivery of integrated housing, health and social support programs
to foster supportive tenant relations and community development
throughout the province. It oversees property management services
for 7,200 public housing units, and provides financial and
management consulting services to approximately 800 non-profit and
co-op housing providers responsible for an additional 59,100 units,
including the administration of PRHC group homes on behalf of
sponsoring ministries.
Operations also manages the
Housing
Registry
and allocation of housing, delivers rent subsidy programs
and negotiates and administers housing and service agreements.
The branch oversees five Regional Offices around British Columbia and is responsible for overseeing BC Housing’s commitment to Emergency Social Services in British Columbia.

Corporate Services
The Corporate Services Branch provides a range of specialized services to support the key functions at BC Housing; Finance, Information Technology (IT), Business Support Services, Internal Audit, and Planning and Research. These services provide financial and administrative management to support BC Housing programs and services.

Corporate Services is also responsible for Freedom of
Information / Protection of Privacy and Ombudsman requests. If you

BC Housing is responsible for ensuring that supply of subsidized
housing increases to meet the demand of those in greatest need.
This process is facilitated by Development Services who is
responsible for implementing provincial and joint
provincial/federal subsidized housing supply programs. Examples of
these housing supply programs include
Provincial Homelessness Initiative,
Aboriginal Housing Initiative,
Community Partnership Initiatives,
and
Seniors Rental Housing.
The Human Resources branch is responsible for recruiting and
hiring new employees, labour negotiations, compensation/benefits
administration, organizational development and performance
management.
Human Resources provides support to BC Housing employees and ensures that they are in the best position possible to help the organization achieve its objectives. The branch ensures that BC Housing staff work in a safe environment and have access to opportunities for individual development. It creates and manages programs that attract, motivate, engage and retain employees.

Corporate Communications is responsible for developing and managing internal and external communication strategies to strengthen BC Housing as a progressive and responsive organization.
The branch manages external communications activities including issues management, media relations, housing program announcements, and government, stakeholder and community relations. Corporate Communication staff coordinates participation in private and non-profit housing events and conferences, and groundbreaking and opening ceremonies for new housing developments.
In addition, Corporate Communications is responsible for BC Housing’s website, social media channels, the online employee newsletter, and a range of corporate publications.

Asset Strategies
The Asset Strategies Branch is responsible for developing and implementing a province-wide strategy and business model for the redevelopment, improvement and sustainability of the social housing stock.
Asset Strategies oversees major repairs, renovation, capital improvement and energy retrofit projects on social housing such as the repairs to the Single Room Occupancy hotels . The branch also develops construction and energy efficiency strategies and standards used in the development of subsidized housing.

Homeowner Protection Office
As of April 1, 2010, many responsibilities for the Homeowner Protection Act have transferred to BC Housing. The Homeowner Protection Office is responsible for licensing residential builders and building envelope renovators province-wide; administering owner builder authorizations; monitoring the performance of the third-party home warranty insurance system underwritten by the private sector; carrying out research and education which benefits the residential construction industry and consumers, and administering financial assistance programs for owners of leaky homes in the form of the Reconstruction Program and the Province's PST Relief Grant Program.

Effective July 31, 2009, the Minister of Housing and Social
Development announced that the Reconstruction Program has stopped
accepting new applications. As of April 1, 2010, the residential
builder and building envelope renovator licensing, owner builder
authorization and the research and education responsibilities under
the Homeowner Protection Act have been transferred to BC
Housing.
