Strengthening the Social Housing Sector
Over the past decade, the social housing delivery
environment in British Columbia has undergone a significant shift,
becoming more complex and dynamic than at any time in the past.
This finding emerged from a study funded by BC Housing and
conducted by Marleen Morris & Associates.
Following a reporting out on the findings of that
study in 2010, four task groups were formed to respond to the key
challenges facing the sector that were identified in the report. A
variety of stakeholder groups in the sector were represented on the
task groups – development consultants, non-profit
housing societies, and government. Their deliberations resulted in
the recommendations highlighted below.

framework could be applied to regions and municipalities

Reporting & Monitoring
Task Group |
Develop a project monitoring framework that
allows BC Housing to focus on program rather than project
management, standard reporting forms and
formats that enable appropriate risk management and
explore the feasability of electronic file sharing.
