Operational Review questions

What is an operational review?
An operational review is a process where BC Housing reviews the administration and management of the operations and supports (where applicable) of a non-profit provider's operations. It is performed a minimum of every three years.

The operational review is divided into six modules that cover key areas of affordable housing management in detail, including:

  • Maintenance Management
  • Financial Management
  • Resident/Client Management
  • Safety and Security
  • Program Supports Management
  • Human Resources/Administration
Please visit the Operational Review page for more information.

How can we prepare for our operational review?
The following documents outline the questions that will be covered during the review:

Your NPPM will be requesting information in advance of the on-site visit. For more information visit http://www.bchousing.org/Partners/H_S_Op/Reporting/Op_Review/Process

What can I expect after the operational review?
After the operational review has been performed your NPPM will send you an Operational Review Report, usually within 30 days from the date of the on-site visit. This report will outline the findings of the operational review and will also highlight any Action Plans assigned to you. Your NPPM will continue to work with you and will offer appropriate supports and tools to successfully address issues identified in the Action Plans.

What is an Action Plan?
An Action Plan is created when and if findings from the operational review reveal that there are items to address. Action Plans can be assigned to your society or to BC Housing, and your NPPM will identify who is responsible for the Action Plan. In the Operational Review Report all Action Plans are highlighted and assigned a due date. Your NPPM will consult with you to assign the due date for the Action Plan item.
