How to access Extreme Weather Response shelters

The provincially funded  Extreme Weather Response (EWR) program  provides individuals and families in need with access to a warm, dry place to sleep during extreme weather conditions between November 1st and March 31st.

Each community decides on a local basis when to issue an Extreme Weather Alert based on current conditions and local forecasts determining when locations will be open and the number of spaces available.

The Extreme Weather Response program has now ended for this year. Communities interested in setting up an Extreme Weather Response program for this fall are encouraged to go to the Extreme Weather Response program page. An updated Extreme Weather Response list will be available in early fall.
