Current Project: Pleasantvale
This 50-unit seniors’ housing development was
created in the mid-1950s by the Rotary Club of Kelowna, and is now
operated by its wholly-owned society, the Pleasantvale Homes
Society. In June 2011, the Society transferred its
ownership of the property to BC Housing with additional land being
provided by the City of Kelowna to help make up the entire
site. The property transfer provides more options to
undertake a long-term plan to redevelop the site.

Why redevelop?
The current housing is nearly 60 years old. It makes economic sense to redevelop rather than continue to make costly repairs. Redevelopment provides the opportunity to replace the 50 affordable housing units for independent seniors and to add 20 affordable housing units for independent residents. To help pay for the construction of 70 new units, there will be other housing units available for sale or rent at market prices.
