Successfully Completed Project: Moresby Townhomes
BC Housing invested $5.7 million to redevelop an under-utilized
property in Prince Rupert and converted it to transitional and
supportive housing for women who are homeless or “at
risk” of homelessness. In April 2012, Eagles Landing
became a reality.
Why redevelop?
BC Housing’s Moresby Townhomes provided affordable family housing for over 40 year in Prince Rupert. In 2010, a decrease in occupancy and an increase in extensive building repairs opened the door to a successful BC Housing redevelopment – Eagles Landing.

Partnerships
BC Housing undertook the redevelopment and partnered with the North Coast Transition Society to run the new Eagles Landing housing. The North Coast Transition Society combines an affordable home with caring people who help women connect with the resources and services they need. BC Housing provides an annual operating subsidy of $152,757.

The residents
Using the guiding principles of “tenant first”, BC Housing worked with the remaining eight families at Moresby to identify a range of housing options for their relocation. We also assisted with moving expenses, including connection fees for telephone, hydro and cable.
