In 2012, BC Housing was awarded a silver designation by the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business (CCAB) for our strong relationships with Aboriginal housing providers in and the initiatives and programs that support Aboriginal people throughout the province.

Established 10 years ago, the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification is a multi-tiered reporting process that involves: a detailed submission, independent third-party verification of company reports and interviews with key stakeholders and staff. Each component of the process focuses on outcomes and initiatives in the four PAR performance areas: employment, business development, community investment and community engagement.

Companies undertaking the PAR process may achieve a bronze, silver or gold designation.

High performance in aboriginal relations is in keeping with BC Housing’s strategic priority to enhance Aboriginal housing partnerships and we are proud to be the first social housing provider in Canada to be awarded a Progressive Aboriginal Relations designation.
